Data collection
Each year the National Reference Laboratories for Fish Diseases submit data to the EURL for Fish and Crustacean Diseases.
The data is on:
- current aquaculture production
- fish health categorization
- fish disease situation
- laboratory capacity in their country.
Purpose
The purpose of this data collection is to obtain an overview of the fish disease situation in Europe.
As the only repository collating fish health data at a European level, it serves as a unique resource for assessing changes in the spread and virulence of listed pathogens as well as emergence of new health challenges. The dataset can be used also to prioritize infectious disease and prompt development of preventative and control measures, therefore increasing effective emergency preparedness.
Reports
The EURL collates the information from the National Reference Laboratories in a report and presents an overview of the fish disease situation, etc., in Europe at the Annual Meeting of the National Reference Laboratories for Fish Diseases.
