The EURL for Fish and Crustacean Diseases is launching again the collection of data entitled “Survey and Diagnosis” of the listed fish diseases in Europe for 2020.

Every year the EURL collates data provided from the National Reference Laboratories’ compiling aquaculture production, number of outbreaks of listed fish diseases, health category status of fish farms, fish health challenges occurring in the different countries and number of test conducted by NRLs. Data are formatted in a report available on the EURL website.

  1. All Member States are asked to use the excel template attached (S&D Excel template 2020). Please, fill in the questionnaire and save it with the name of your country and submit to Teena Klinge (tevk@aqua.dtu.dk) and Niccolò Vendramin (niven@aqua.dtu.dk) latest 16th April 2021.

  2. The EURL team will retrieve all general production data in Europe by combining the FAO Fisheries Global Information System (FIGIS) and the annual report provided by Federation of Aquaculture Producers (FEAP).

  3. The general production data do not cover the number of farms or their health categorization – information that are important for epidemiological analysis. Therefore, the EURL asks each Member State to provide these data. It is the responsibility of the NRL to collect these data from the respective authority in their country.

  4. The EURL would like to collect information on the geographical localization of zones and compartments within the different health categories in the countries. Therefore, the NRLs are encouraged to submit a map with this information. Maps can be retrieved from mapsofworld.com. However, the NRLs may use the map that fits their needs best.

  5. With specific reference to points 3.3; 3.4 and 3.5 of the questionnaire, the NRL's should fill these fields even if no specific changes have occurred since last year. This will facilitate gathering the information for the report and will allow each report to be independent.

An overview of the data collected from the 2020 “Survey and Diagnosis” will be presented at the 25th Annual Workshop of the National Reference Laboratories for Fish Diseases, Copenhagen, Denmark 2021.

Please return the completed questionnaire no later than 16th  April 2021.

Thank you for your cooperation.
